CHESS TRAIN

Loaded list of players

[13.10.2011 00:00:00] - Just as a number of squares on the chessboard there is the number of participants in the international chess tournament in the train which has left on this Friday. Among the favourites of the tournament are especially grandmasters Robert Cvek and Vlastimil Hort and international masters Bernd Schneider, Alex Reprintsev, Richard Biolek, Petr Pisk and Jan Michalek.

In the starting field there are also important managers (such as director of Dopravni stavby Brno Vlastimil Chladek, or director of EuroAgentur Hotels & Travel Josef Bara) and also talents of Czech and Slovak chess Karin Nemcova and Jergus Pechac. The participation of young talents is sponsored by Kingfisher Executive Search. The tournament is attended by players from the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Germany, Holland, Switzerland, Poland, Russia and France. List of the players is here.

The participants of the Chess train will travel one thousand eight hundred kilometres on the route Prague - Vienna - Budapest - Bratislava - Krakow - Prague. Who will return to Prague as the winner will be clear on Tuesday 18 October in the evening. The Chess train is organized by civic association Prague Chess Society and Czech Railways and partners of the event are ERA and CZ Loko.

"Except transatlantic steamships there is only a railway comfortable means of transport which allows a larger group of people to travel together a greater distance for a longer time and play a chess tournament at the same time. I am glad that together with Czech Railways, we can organize a chess tournament, which has no parallel in the history," says Pavel Matocha, the chairman of the Prague Chess Society.

"It is not the first interesting project that we will support by dispatching a special train. In the past we have dispatched for example Biblio train or the Gallery and Theater train. Regularly there is a Cinema train which travels to different parts of the Czech Republic and especially school children are familiar with the Preventive train in which we try to teach children how to safely move on the railway and how to provide the first aid," says Jiri Jeseta, Executive Director of Sales and Marketing of Czech Railways.
