[15.10.2011 00:00:00] - On Friday at 5 p.m. after a pleasant seven hours train ride the chess train finally arrived in Vienna. After the first playing day, after having completed the first three rounds out of fifteen, the intermediate ranking is headed by six players with three points. Among them there are five player GM Robert Cvek, IM Alex Reprintsev, IM Bernd Schneider, IM Richard Biolek and IM Jan Michálek as well as the chief-editor of the russian chess magazine Mark Gluchovskij. The complete results can be found at chessresults.com.
The majority of the chess players went for a walk through the Austrian capital, where the spirit of the Emperor is still present, Vienna is the center of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. The captain of the chess club PORG Michal Spacek invited around ten gourmands to the famous restaurant Figlmüller, where you get a huge Wiener Schnitzel, not fitting on the plate, like a pizza. It is served by a waiter, who speaks a few words with every guest in his mother tongue, with us in Czech.
