CHESS TRAIN

Money for don King of the chess world

[13.10.2012 00:00:00] - „Last year, the Chess train was very succesful. We are happy that we can set out, in cooperation with Prague chess society, the train this year again. I believe that the new tradition is being born and that the Chess train will continue in following years also,“ told vice director of České Dráhy Antonín Blažek at the opening ceremony of the event.

The Chess Train is supported by Era, Czech Tourism and PORG, whose delegates participated in the opening ceremony in the Government lounge on the Central Station in Prague. „I prefer giving the money to don King of the chess world, which is Pavel Matocha in my mind, than to the Ministry of Finance in taxes,“ told Václav Klaus, the director of grammar and primary school PORG.

„Values of Era and of the chess game are very similar, whether the frankness or the simplicity. Contrary to cards, chess is an open game, where everybody see all figures and all moves of his adversary. And the rules of moving the different figures are simple as well,“ those are words of Jan Lamser, the director of Poštovní spořitelna, whose speech was read by the regional director of Era Jan Doubek.

There are 46 chess players from 10 different countries in the 13 rounds tournament Most of them are from Czech and German chess federation, but there are also players from USA, China, England or Scandinavia. In terms of clubs, ŠK PORG has the strongest representation: Václav Klaus, Jiří Krátký and Josef Bára.

After the first playing day when the train came to Dresden, the group of 11 people with 2 points is in head of the tournament, involving both grandmasters - Ján Plachetka and Martin Petr.
