[19.10.2011 00:00:00] - During the last playing day the Chess train was returning from Krakow to Prague and chess players were waiting for five rounds. In these rounds grandmaster Robert Cvek was finishing in a very good shape, but experienced IM Richard Biolek finally defended his victory. We can say with happiness and just a half point thanks to tie-break, but the history will not ask for it any more. The Queen of England will read in the newspaper that international master Richard Biolek has won the first international chess tournament in the train.
Very good performance showed ten years´ old Jergus Pechacal, a great Slovak chess talent, who throughout the tournament played at the top tables in the first car, beat several strong players, and finally in a tough competition of 64 chess players won the 12th place.
In the government lounge of the Main railway Station in Prague was held a closing ceremony and awarding all participants of the tournament. Antonin Blazek, the Deputy of General Director of Czech Railways and Jan Lamser, the Chief of Postovni sporitelna, congratulated the winners.
Results of fifteenth rounds´ rapid chess tournament in the Chess train accurately describes the table:
1. IM Richard Biolek – 13,5 pts.
2. GM Robert Cvek – 13,5 pts.
3. IM Petr Pisk – 11 pts.
4. IM Alex Reprintsev – 10,5 pts.
5. IM Jan Michalek – 10 pts.
6. Mark Gluchovskij – 10 pts.
7. IM Bernd Schneider – 9,5 pts.
8. FM Harry Schaack – 9,5 pts.
9. Martin Handl – 9 pts.
10. GM Vlastimil Hort – 8,5 pts.
