Chess Train 2014

Legendary Swedish grandmaster on board

[24.06.2014 00:00:00] - Legendary Swedish grandmaster Ulf Andersson (born 06/27/1951) will go on this year's Chess train. Among three dozens of already registered can be found also another grandmaster - Martin Petr, who won the Chess train tournament in 2012.

Grandmaster Andersson excelled in positional maneuvering and his firm constructions were not easy to break through even for the best players of the world. He was on top in the second half of the 70's and the first half of the 80's, when he won the tournaments in London (1982), Wijk aan Zee (1983) and when he played behind the first chessboard in the world selection against USSS (1984). In 1983 he shared the third and the fourth place in the interzonal tournament and just closely missed the progress among world championship candidates.

If you want to ride the Chess train 2014 together with GM Andersson and other well-known and unknown chess players, you can apply today for the journey from Friday 10th till Tuesday 14th of October on route Prague - Vienna - Budapest - Trencin - Krakow - Prague, where you willl play 12-round tournament in rapid on board of the train. Your wife and your non-playing chess friends can travel with you.

Applicant fee for non-players is 2.990 CZK and 4.490 CZK for players. In all cities you van choose between accommodation managed by yourself or choose one of the hotels booked by Chess train organizer. Full information about the Chess train can be found on its website and you can also meet its past and future participants on Chess train Facebook page.
