Snowdrops vs. Oldhands – Czech Coal Chess Match 2011

(December 2011, Hotel Cristal Palace, Marienbad)
The team of legendary grandmasters (Robert Hübner, Rafael Vaganian, Vlastimil Hort and Boris Gulko) will compete with the rising generation of women grandmasters (Mariya Muzychuk, Natalia Pogonina, Tania Sachdev and Eva Kulovana) from 3rd December till 11th December at Hotel Cristal Palace in Marienbad. The time limit of a game is 90 minutes for 40 moves with additional 30 minutes till the end of the game plus 30 seconds for each completed move. The tournament is held by the civic association Prague Chess Society.

CHESS TRAIN

(October 2011, Prague-Vienna-Bratislava-Budapest-Krakow)
Take a trip to five beautiful Central-European cities and play the rapid chess tournament during the way. Specially launched train will start from Prague on October 14-th, 2011 at 10 am and during the way to Vienna you will play the first 3 rounds of the tournament. In the afternoon and the evening you will have an opportunity to see the Austrian metropolis, get a Sacher cake and Viennese coffee, but also visit the opera, you will stay overnight in a nice hotel and on October 15 at 10 am you will go to Budapest. In the train you will play next rounds of the tournament, in the afternoon you will try the famous spa and in the evening taste the Hungarian salami or the best Tokaji wine. On 16 October, Bratislava will be waiting for you, on October 17-th Krakow and on October 18-th you will return to Prague.

ČEZ CHESS TROPHY 2011

(June 2011, Michna Palace, Prague)
World champion Viswanathan Anand is going to arrive to Prague in order to play a simul against 30 opponents and to initiate the match between the best chess player of the Czech Republic and Slovakia last decade. Grandmasters David Navara and Sergey Movsesian will compete in the match of six games. During the whole festival ČEZ CHESS TROPHY 2011, which will be held from 12 to 19 June in Michna Palace at Prague's Kampa, there will be an opportunity for everyone to participate in lectures given by Lubomir Kavalek, Vlastimil Hort, Yochanan Afek and Vitezslav Houska. Beside that you can look forward to the simul played by Jan Smejkal, the launch of the book about Master Karel Opocensky and chess philately exhibition. On the occasion of the festival there will be issued the special post-stamp.
