ČEZ CHESS TROPHY 2013

The Wizard from an inflatable tree

[12.05.2013 00:00:00] - Illustrator, graphic designer and film artist Luděk Bárta is being the one, who imprinted his distinctive, playful tone to the graphic materials of this year's chess match ČEZ Chess Trophy. Prague chess society continues this way in cooperation with famous artists, when preparing the posters and press materials on chosen chess events.

Academic painter Luděk Bárta (*1961) graduated from Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague, studio of Film and TV Graphics at professor Miloslav Jágr. With exception of years 1992-1998, when he was an artist of MF Dnes, he has been still a freelancer. He was working mostly in advertising, dealing with design of papers and magazines (MF Dnes, Profit, Země pohádek, Sanquis), he was creating book (for publishings Albatros, Listen, Fragment, Mladá fronta, XYZ…) and magazine illustrations (Mateřídouška, Vlastní cestou, Země pohádek), he was drawing up art designs and screenplays of animated films or advertising spots (March – month of internet, Hypoteční banka).

On poster for ČEZ CHESS TROPHY 2013 Bárta shows his conviction, that the important in chess are the figurines and their emplacement on chessboard, the beauty of a game and not the beauty or atractiveness of chess-players.
