[14.06.2013 00:00:00] - GM Vlastimil Hort in this year´s quizz didn´t spare any of quartet of the contestants – as source of interesting and often very difficult questions were holders of chess crown of present and former years. Otherwise David Navara, which sat down against Hou Yifan in Michna Palace, Woman World Champion of years 2010-2012, already to the third game, had to make do with purely chess skills.
19-years-old Chinese had for the second time in the match white figurines and Sicilian Defence appeared on the chessboard again. Numerous exchanges in early stadium of the game ended up in ending, in which mostly often appeared known factors as delayed development (in case of black figurines) and in the opposite slightly battered pawn structure of the white pawns. Process of the game, which consisted this time only of 34 moves, spiced black with sacrificing his bishop for several pawns. Hou Yifan, though, evaluated the position correctly afterwards and figurine handed in change of possibility to collect dangerously appearing black pawns. Until tomorrow last game, the state of the match remains undecided 1,5:1,5.
Last year´s victory in quizz contest of GM Vlastimil Hort upholded František Štross. From questions about chess World Champions´ lives, it was him, who squeezed out most points ahead of Zdeněk Hába, Tomáš Vavřinec and Jiří Kočiščák. Ninth year of ČEZ Chess Trophy will be closed tomorrow by lecture of GM Robert Cvek on the topic „How to make progress in chess“ and fourth game of the match of David Navara and Hou Yifan. If the last duel ends up also in a draw, the winner will be decided in rapids.
In the Quiz of GM Vlastimil Hort contested (from right): Zdeněk Hába, Tomáš Vavřinec, Jiří Kočiščák a František Štross
