[12.06.2013 00:00:00] - Exhibition opening of Marian Holubčík's Chess motives in heraldry created a pleasant atmosphere before opening game of the match ČEZ Chess Trophy 2013 between the best Czech chess player David Navara and Chinese GM Hou Yifan. The solemn moment, in the form of execution of the first move, was discharged by Josef Sedlák, ombudsman of ČEZ group.
Royal pawn move, by which Chinese World Champion 2010-2012 regularly starts with the white pieces, foreordained a ruthless battle in Sicilian Defence. The attainment of an interesting attack position on royal wing cost Chinese a lot of time though, and phase between the 30th and the 40th move had been in spirit of great tension and probably also waste of pros of the white position. David Navara took over the initiative into his hands and after time control, he was entering the rook ending with a slight advantage.
„I have to express appreciation of a very combative game for both players, on the part of the black played at times with a big risk,“ assessed Vlastimil Hort right after the game ended with amicable result.
State of the match is after the first game day even 0,5:0,5. Tomorrow in the Michna palace on Kampa will start at 3 p.m. with the lecture of Michael Negele „History of the Blindfold chess“. Game, in which will play with the white pieces the Czech representative David Navara, starts at 4 p.m.
