Art exhibition of Bernd Besser
German artist. Shortly thereafter, he decided to collect chess sets, he discovered how much particular chess figures can say and reveal about the art, culture and history. This realization was an impulse for the artist's own creativity, which since 2002 found expression in his sculptures. Besser in his artistic career externalizes chess themes. His chess sculptures give the impression of "random assembly", upon a closer observing, however, they reveal a precisely assembled arrangement. Cool pragmatism goes to almost intrusive presence and tangible passion for the game changes with fascinating plastic depiction. Besser began his career in 2002 with an exhibition on the theme Chess in the art. Two years later, he presented an exhibition devoted to chess youth. This was followed by perhaps his greatest project: from May 2005 to October 2008 Besser´s exhibition Worlds of chess paintings accompanied the tournament currently played in sixty-four cities in Germany. A part of this exhibition was on display at the Chess Olympiad in Dresden.
