Pal Benko
Hungarian-American chess player Pal Benko belonged among few several friends of legendary Bobby Fischer and about him he will refere in his lecture in Poděbrady (Wednesday 4th December, 3 p.m.).
Pal Benko (85 years) won US Championship for 8 times and participated in Candidates Tournament to World Championship for two times (1959 and 1962). He is also reputable composer of chess problems and studies.

Genna Sosonko
Russian-Dutch chess player Genna Sosonko is an author of several portrait books of the chess greats of the past and he is considered as the best writer in genre of biography of chess masters.
His books I knew Capablanka, Not only about Salo Flohr and Tal and other essays were published in Czech language. You will have the possibility to buy all of them in Poděbrady and let them sign from GM Sosonko during the match Snowdrops and Oldhands in the hotel Zámeček.

Jan Smejkal
Three-time Champion of Czechoslovakia Jan Smejkal belongs altogether with Vlastimil Hort and Lubomír Kaválek to the gold generation of Czech chess players, which gained in 1982 silver medals on chess olympiade in Luzern.
