ČEZ CHESS TROPHY 2011

Photo Exhibition - Famous chess players in Prague

13th – 30th June 2011 – Malostranska beseda – Trick Bar
(Prague 1, Malostranske namesti 21, 2st floor)

The first world champion Wilhelm Steinitz was born in Prague, and later many world champions, their challengers and other legendary chess players have passed through our capital city. Come up to see the beautifully renovated Malostranska beseda (Malostranske namesti 21, Prague 1), where will be exposed many unique photos of famous chess players on the first floor in the bar Trick. Trick Bar is open every day from 5pm and the entrance to the exhibition is free. The exhibition begins on Saturday 13th June and will last until the end of June.

You will see the photo of world champion Vera Mencikova from the Palace „U Novaku“ in 1931, when the chess Olympiad took place there. You will remind world champion Alexander Aljechin or legendary Paul Keres, who had played in Prague strong international tournaments in the times of World War II. Many famous Soviet chess players are caught during the match Prague – Moscow in 1946. You will be surprised, that Lucerna Hall in Prague was full not only thank to famous musical groups, but also thank to world champion Michail Tal, who played a simul there. During this Tal exhibition it was full of people on all balconies.

From the black and white history we will move into a colorful presence. We will not forget neither the last years, when many world champions visited Prague, as for example Garry Kasparov, Anatoly Karpov, Boris Spassky or Vladimir Kramnik.
