[25.04.2016 00:00:00] - The chess match between the World Junior Champion Richard Rapport and the best Czech chess player David Navara will be the main event of this year’s CEZ CHESS TROPHY 2016, which will be held in Prague from the 3rd until the 8th of June in the usual premises: the Michna Palace on the Kampa Island.
The grandmasters will be competing in a match of 4 standard games in the classic tempo (counted to ELO) and the match will be commentated on by an experienced GM Robert Cvek in the commentator hall. The duel will be accompanied by a rich chess programme, as it’s customary during CEZ CHESS TROPHY.
For all the chess fans in the Czech Republic, this is the most important festival of the year. Apart from the attractive duel of the grandmasters, the visitors can look forward to not only the traditional simuls, talks, exhibitions and the launch of a new chess book, but also to seeing living chess in the city centre and the premiere of a chess movie by the British Estonian director Maris Salumets.
“We are working intensely on preparing the festival and at the end of April we should have a clear idea whether we will be able to carry out all the planned events. The documentary movie about the Chess Train is now being edited, the book about the Czech chess master Karel Hromádka is being prepared for publication. We will see whether we will be able to present both the works to the chess fans already in June, or whether the premiere and the book launch will be postponed, perhaps until October, when the Chess Train will be departing from Prague on another journey,” says the President of the Prague Chess Society Pavel Matocha.
