Snowdrops has ruled in Podebrady

[09.12.2013 00:00:00] - With not a single stumble, the Snowdrops went from star to the end of the tournament. The final score of the 6th year of Snowdrops and Oldhands is 17,5 : 14,5 for ladies. Among the four Snowdrops, Viktorija Cmilyte, Mariya Muzychuk, Alina Kashlinskaya and Anastasiya Ziaziulkina was not a single weak link. After a half-time even the Snowdrop with the least amount of points was better than the most productive of the Oldhands.

This year was not really good one for GM Wolfgang Uhlmann, who had a few of really good positions, some of them were even a simple move from winning, but that one move has betrayed him every time. When we add that younger of Oldhands, stronger in rating, did not fight at all in several games and take a really fast draw with white pieces, there is no doubt who should be the winner. The best individual result goes to Alina Kashlinskaya (5 points out of 8 games with ELO performance 2561), who has been preparing for the match by her boyfriend, second of former world champion Vishy Anand, GM Radoslaw Wojtaszek.
