[18.10.2012 00:00:00] - Martin Petr won the rapid tournament in Chess train with a great result: 13 points of 13 games. He
escaped the other players of one whole carriage – FM Jan Dietrich Wendt was silver with 10,5 points and
GM Ján Plachetka finished third with 9,5 points. Next three players had 8,5 points.
Last night in a hotel and final 3 rounds of rapid chess tournament in the train on the way back home,
waited the participants after a kind of cultural approach of bellyworship in Vienna (sacher and a coffee
and a huge schnitzel in famous restaurant Figl-Müller).
During the last day, the first and second player kept their positions, nevertheless grandmaster Ján
Plachetka reached the third rank thanks to his powerful finish, when he obtained 3 points of 3 last
games.
Jiří Ješeta, director of commerce and marketing of České Dráhy, Jan Lamser, member of directorship of
ČSOB responsable for Poštovní spořitelna and president of Czech chess federation, and Vlastimil Hort,
legendary Czech grandmaster, were present to the Closing ceremony and handing over the prizes in
Government lounche on the Central station in Prague.
Just as the first year of the Chess train, the second year finished also by a big success. It brouht to the
chess game the publicity unusually large in non chess medias, including the reportages in the evening
News on Česká televize, an article on idnes.cz or a big reportage of news service AP, the biggest news
service on the world.
