[25.06.2012 00:00:00] - Russian grandmaster Peter Svidler won the CEZ CHESS TROPHY 2012, when he beated Czech grandmaster David Navara 3 : 1. The last game was absolutly peaceful – players cleaned up the board from the pieces quickly and they signed the draw in the move 28 (after three times repetition).
Sunday afternoon was started by the lecture of Einar S. Einarsson who told about Bobby Fischer. Einar S. Einarsson worked on the freeing of Bobby Fischer from custody in Japan.
It was important that chessplayers in Island persuaded the politicians in Island to grant a citizenship to Bobby Fischer. And also it was important that politicians in Island was brave enough to withstand the pressure of the USA. The ambassador of USA in Island warned the prime minister of Island, that it is not a clever decision to give a citizenship to a criminal guy. Island prime minister answered, that in Island it is not a criminal act to play chess.
All 4 games from the match Svidler vs. Navara can be replayed here.
